FAQ’S

  • Our advanced 3D printing process combines powerful orthotic design software with highly accurate FDM printing—reaching tolerances as fine as 0.01 to 0.1mm. This exceptional precision allows us to support even the most complex foot types, while still creating thin, lightweight orthotics that easily fit into a variety of shoes for sports, work, or everyday wear.

By pairing this cutting-edge technology with a network of skilled clinicians who utilise the latest 3D scanning and gait analysis tools, we’re able to assess, analyse, and craft a fully personalised orthotic solution. The result is a perfect fit, tailored specifically to your needs.

  • Yes, orthotics can be a great solution for many people! Custom orthotics are designed to provide the exact support and alignment your feet need, which can significantly improve your comfort and mobility. You might consider getting a custom orthotic if you experience foot pain, discomfort while walking or standing, or have specific conditions like flat feet, plantar fasciitis, or high arches.

They’re also beneficial for athletes looking to enhance performance or anyone who spends long hours on their feet. By addressing these issues with a custom orthotic, you can reduce pain, prevent future injuries, and improve your overall quality of life.

  • We’re constantly trying to refine our process to make it as easy as possible for you to get what you need. For now, the process is as follows:

    1. Fill out the intake form so we can find your nearest clinic

    2. At your appointment, your clinician will take a 3D scan or cast of your feet

    3. A prescription is created, meaning your orthotic is made using any modifications needed to treat your specific performance and/or medical needs. This prescription is used to create a unique design for the 3D printer

    4. The printing takes roughly 3-7 working days

    5. Your Footprint is now ready to be fitted and collected!

  • Our 3D printing technique uses filament-based materials to create the most accurate, durable and personalised custom made orthotic. While certain printers used powder-bed based technologies to increase the amount of orthotics printed in a single batch, we prefer to focus on each individual customisation at a time.

  • We design each Footprint to last, with the ability to withstand up to 5 tonnes of pressure ensuring a high level of durability. While the lifespan of each individual orthotic is dependent on the usage as well as the prescription, on average you can expect them to last up to 10 years if looked after properly.

  • Our orthotics are backed by a minimum 5 year warranty against cracking or splitting.  Please note that some orthotics may require an additional material layer called a top cover which comes with a 6 month warranty, although it typically lasts between 1-3 years.  If the top cover is to wear down,  there is normally a top cover refurbishment option available to completely refresh the device at a minimal recover charge. Top covers are only used in specific cases decided by the prescribing practitioner and many will not require a top cover. All options can be discussed at your individual clinical assessment.

  • This will be unique to each person, but across the board you will experience:

    • Enhanced comfort through superior support

    • Pain relief for foot, lower limb, and back pain

    • Improved posture and alignment

    • Help preventing future injuries through even pressure distribution

    • Enhanced performance through better stability and energy transfer

    • Better foot function

    • Improved mobility by facilitating easier walking and running

  • Our orthotics work by improving foot biomechanics, providing support, and redistributing pressure to enhance comfort and reduce pain. They stabilise and align the feet, correcting issues like overpronation or supination, which can improve posture and reduce strain on the ankles, knees, hips, and spine. By evenly distributing body weight, orthotics relieve pressure on sensitive areas like the heels, arches, or forefoot, helping to alleviate pain from conditions such as plantar fasciitis or metatarsalgia. They also absorb shock to minimise the impact on joints during activities like walking or running.

  • Our orthotics are designed to fit in most trainers by simply removing the existing insole that comes with the shoe and replacing with ours. That being said, we can absolutely fit them to a specific brand if you’d like - some of our recent ones include FIT4 Asics, FIT4 ON, and FIT4 Hoka.

  • Absolutely! Our orthotics are fully waterproof, so you can simply wipe them down or give them a quick rinse whenever you need. The exception to this is if yours includes a top cover—your practitioner will let you know the best way to care for that specific style.

  • A prescription is a specific recommendation made by a specialised healthcare professional for custom orthotics tailored to a patient’s unique foot structure and needs. This prescription provides detailed information to a lab about how the orthotics should be constructed to address the individual's medical conditions, biomechanical issues, or functional requirements.

  • Most of our orthotics typically range from £250 to £600, although the exact cost will depend on your specific prescription and requirements. For an accurate quote, we recommend reaching out to your nearest practitioner.

  • It’s normal for custom orthotics to require a short adjustment period as your feet and body adapt to the new support. If you’re experiencing discomfort, here are some steps you can take:

    • Start by wearing your orthotics for 1-2 hours a day and gradually increase the duration over a week or two

    • Ensure your orthotics are placed correctly in your shoes and that your footwear offers adequate room and support

    • If you notice persistent pain, hotspots, or improper fit, get in touch with your prescribing clinician who will be able to offer individual advice

    • The good news is since custom orthotics are designed specifically for you, adjustments can be made to improve comfort and functionality. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your clinic practitioner —they're here to help!
